BLUE

BLUE
I dressed up like the sky today
so you could feel I was wide-open
and free
not a cloud in sight
no rain to blemish my skin
no thunder in my cheeks
I dressed up like the sky today
so when you looked at me
you could only see blue
only feel sunshine
when you touched me
let its light creep into the voids
she left
let its warmth make your body
more home-like
less prison cell
I dressed up like the sky today
so I could show you how ready I am
to let someone love the parts I hate
about me
again
to let someone hold me like a feather
again
as if the steel anchors in my body
haven't weighed me down for years
I dressed up like the sky today
to show you I was open for love
but you never
showed.
